Optional: add an on-site AI assistant
A separate product track for helping your own visitors.
A site assistant can answer product or service questions using your approved material. Its presence is not a ranking signal or a way to enroll in ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude recommendations. It requires a backend and ongoing quality evaluation.
Your implementation route
Use available Wix SEO/log reports plus Search Console and Analytics. Keep an external uptime check if needed. Advanced event or AI API code requires supported backend functionality or a separate backend; the examples here are portable patterns, not Wix drop-ins.
Platform boundaries & account requirements
Use Wix's native integrations and SEO & GEO tools. Backend examples belong in a supported Wix backend module or an external service, never in a page embed.
Open Wix ↗A defined visitor use case, approved knowledge sources, a backend owner, an AI provider account and a cost limit.
Follow the steps
Check only after completingChoose one narrow useful job
Start with finding the right service, explaining published policies or linking to relevant products. Define what it must not decide, such as inventing prices or confirming availability without a live system. Provide a clear human/contact fallback.
Prepare versioned knowledge
Use approved public pages and structured product facts with source URLs and update timestamps. Remove obsolete policies. For retrieval, preserve provenance so answers can link to the actual source. Measure useful answers on a fixed question set before exposing the feature.
Build a server-side connection
Use the chosen provider's official quickstart on a supported backend. Store the key in a secret environment variable, add rate limits, timeouts and request-size limits, and return only the necessary answer/source data. Browser code calls your backend, never a provider using a secret key.
Evaluate and launch gradually
Test ambiguous questions, stale facts, unsupported requests and prompt injection in retrieved pages. Treat retrieved text as data. Require explicit user action for purchases or account changes, track cost/error rate and review failed answers. Begin with a small, reversible release.
Start from the provider quickstart linked below. The correct backend depends on your provider, host, data and intended actions; a generic browser snippet would not implement this product safely or completely.
The browser bundle and network responses contain no provider secret. Answers cite approved sources, unsupported questions get a useful fallback, rate limits work and spending is bounded. The assistant remains separate from the visibility dashboard.
Disable the widget or feature flag and preserve normal navigation/contact options. Rotate any exposed key and review logs with sensitive content minimized.
